How can I watch the Dave Ramsey Show?

As you have no doubt picked up if you have been reading here for very long I am a tremendous fan of Dave Ramsey. I started listening to the Dave Ramsey Show on the radio close to 10 years ago.

I started listening at a time in my life when, while by most folks standards we were doing pretty well, the truth is we were pretty much just getting by from month to month.  Though I had a good income at a stable company, I knew in my heart that if something ever happened we’d be in trouble very quickly. Plus I was just very frustrated that despite a good income, I constantly felt like I was broke. As I have shared before I decided to try following the Baby Steps  that Dave teaches in The Total Money Makeover and we paid off all our debts except for house, about $43,000 over a period of about 2 and a half years. About 3 months later I was laid off from that “stable” job of 21 years. I was able to find another good job about 8 months later, but those 8 months would have been a lot more stressful had I not started listening to the Dave Ramsey Show and decided to follow his program to get those debts eliminated.

Daily encouragement

Having lived through this process I know what an encouragement it was for me to be able to listen to Dave’s show each days and hearing the stories of others who were struggling through the same issues I was. If you are fortunate to live in an area where Dave’s program is live on the radio then you have the opportunity to listen to him each day. If you don’t have a local radio station that carries the show or you cannot listen at the time the show is on, there are a variety of other ways that you can listen to the show each day.

A whole new way to enjoy the Dave Ramsey Showdave ramsey show

This summer Dave has been promoting an upcoming big announcement. That announcement was the launch of a new streaming video channel. The channel launched last week.

So how does it work?

  • Now instead of just listening you can watch the show live.
  • Each day’s show is shown live and then replayed on a loop until the following day’s program starts, so you can catch the show in its entirety regardless of when you have time to start listening.
  • In addition to watching the actual show, they plan to provide additional mini-features, interviews, and behind the scenes stuff during the commercial breaks that are beyond what you would get listening to the normal show.

How do you get the video stream?

There are 3 ways to get the new Dave Ramsey video channel depending on which technology platform you use.

If you are an Apple user…

There is a new Dave Ramsey app that you can get for free at the App Store. Simply go to the App Store and search for Dave Ramsey and you should be able to easily find it. I’ve tried it on my iPad and it works great.

  • First, and most obvious, you can start the video stream from the app simply by selecting Watch Today’s Show.
  • If you do not want to watch the video but just want to listen to the audio portion you can do that as well.
  • Additionally, there are several featured clips you can watch that cover a variety of topics.
  • Lastly, there is also a selection for Audio Archives that allows you to listen to any show from the previous two weeks.

If you are an Android user….

There are no plans to add an Android app at this time. However, the primary reason for this is the mobile version of Dave’s web site pretty much already provides similar functionality to the Apple app.

Simply open the browser on your Android device and go to Once there you should see a link for Watch the show. From there you have the option of watching the same live video stream of the show or you can just listen to the audio of the show if that is preferred.

If you are a PC user…

Lastly, if you are a PC user you can also listen to the show by simply going to the web site at Once there click on “The Show” menu item at the top of the screen. You then have the same options to watch or listen to the show.

Extra features

I have played around with the new video channel some in the past week and it is nice to have one more option for catching the show each day. I think the real value in this option comes in some of the extra features.

One of my favorite parts of the show are the debt free screams. When people have paid off their last debt they call in and get a chance to tell their story and yell “I’m Debt Free!!!” When we were getting out of debt I always found these calls so encouraging and I still find them inspiring. I figured if they can do it, I could too. The last couple years a new trend has started as many people have traveled to Dave’s office in Nashville to do their debt free scream right from the lobby of the building.

One of the shows I was watching this week on the new video stream had a debt free family that came to the office to do their yell. Dave’s organization actually went to their house and did  a more extensive interview with them that they played during the break. That interview wouldn’t be heard on the radio broadcast only through the new stream. While I don’t expect them to do interviews from people’s homes each day (the family was local and it’s the first week of the new app), I do expect that they’ll frequently take the opportunity to interview the families in much greater detail during the breaks. These stories are one of the reasons I love listening to Dave’s radio program because it reminds me I am not alone and there are many other families out there doing the same thing.

One more option

There are many ways to catch Dave’s program even if he isn’t on live in your area. If you have never listened to him before, I encourage you to give it a try. He’s always entertaining. And you might just get hooked. I did and it changed my family’s future.
