Yesterday, at least in the United States, we celebrated Labor Day; a day where we celebrate the hard work of the laborer that has helped make our country great.
In honor of that I thought it would be fitting to share some verses from the Book of Proverbs. Proverbs is a terrific book of wisdom and much of that wisdom is related to work and finances. I truly believe if you simply follow the financial principles found in the book of Proverbs, you will have a solid grasp of the principles you will need to follow to be successful.
One of the recurring themes of the proverbs is the reward of hard work vs. the danger of being lazy. While I’m sure we can all think of cases where hard work wasn’t rewarded or the undeserving were promoted, this isn’t the norm. Remember proverbs are general truths that illustrate how the world most often works.
In most cases if you work hard it will be noticed and eventually you will be rewarded for your effort.
Here are 17 of those proverbs to encourage you as we celebrate labor this week.
Anyone too lazy to cook will starve, but a hard worker is a valuable treasure. Proverbs 12:27 CEV
